THIS EXCUSE DID NOT GO WELL IN COURT!

A Birthday Party Turns Chaotic

Imagine a festive birthday party.

Now imagine it ending with a kicked-in door and a trip to court.

That is exactly what happened in this case.

Missy LeBuff is the plaintiff.

She hosted a dual birthday party.

Chris is the defendant.

He was a guest at the party.

Matt is Chris's brother and a witness for the defense.

Ed Marchant is another witness for the defense.

The Plaintiff Sues for a Damaged Door

Missy LeBuff is suing Chris for the damage to her front door.

She claims Chris kicked it down.

She says this happened during her party.

Missy LeBuff's Version of Events

Missy describes her party as a "dual Fiesta party."

She and a friend hosted it for themselves.

They had a tent, a band, and an open bar.

Chris was a guest.

He brought his brother Matt, another younger brother, and a friend of the younger brother.

Missy states that one of the younger brother's friends got into a fight.

Matt tried to break up the fight.

Matt ended up getting knocked out.

Chris ran over and saw Matt unconscious.

He told Missy to call 911.

Missy looked at Matt.

She did not think he was in a 911 emergency state.

She said he was getting up.

She told Chris to take Matt to the hospital, which was about a mile away.

Missy claims Chris ignored her.

He went to her front door.

He kicked it down.

He went inside and called 911.

Then he came back out.

He grabbed his brother's friends.

Missy claims these friends were underage and drinking.

She says Chris brought them and they were uninvited guests.

Chris left the party before 911 arrived.

Missy had to explain to 911 why there was no victim.

She says 911 threatened to charge her but let it go.

The next day, Chris and Matt came over.

They picked up a friend who had stayed the night.

Matt still had not gone to the hospital.

Missy claims Chris agreed to fix the door.

She explains the door was locked because guests were directed to a side door.

This was to protect the carpeting inside.

Chris Presents His Side of the Story

Judge Judy asks Chris if Missy's story is accurate.

Chris says it is "colorful but highly inaccurate."

He saw his brother Matt assaulted.

Matt was hit in the head with a fist.

Then he was kicked in the head while down.

Chris says Matt was unconscious for a long time.

He asked Missy to call 911.

Missy told him to "give him a minute."

She said Matt would be fine.

Chris insists Matt was "completely unconscious."

He asked Missy again to call 911.

She did nothing.

Chris ran to the front door.

It was the closest door to the incident.

It was locked.

He kicked the door in.

He dialed 911.

Chris has a police report documenting his actions.

Why Chris Left the Scene

Judge Judy asks Chris why he did not wait for the police.

Chris explains he returned to his brother.

Matt slowly regained consciousness.

Matt told Chris to "just get me out of here."

Chris says they did not know the assailant.

They did not know if he had friends there.

Matt Recounts the Assault

Matt steps up to speak.

He says he has little recollection after being assaulted.

He was talking to a friend.

There had been an earlier altercation.

He tried to break up a fight.

He turned his head.
