Case File

Car-Wrapping Scam Victims Given Bad Checks (Page 2 of 2)

Mr. Peck says he didn't get any money.

He says he was complaining about being broke.

He claims she bought him a bag of weed and a pack of cigarettes.

He confirms he went to the bank with her for the withdrawal.

Judge Judy questions how he wouldn't know the amount.

They were living and sleeping together.

He was complaining about money.

Mr. Peck says they had different ideas about the money.

He claims she refused to give him the money.

She offered to buy him weed and cigarettes instead.

He says it was a disagreement, not an argument.

He confirms she bought him a pack of cigarettes and a bag of weed.

The Checks Bounce

Miss Hines confirms the bank notified her the checks were bogus.

This happened five days after deposit.

They were deposited on June 24th.

They were returned on June 29th, 2016.

She and Mr. Peck stopped living together in July 2016.

Mr. Peck describes Miss Hines as hysterical when the checks bounced.

She had paid off credit cards and bills.

He says she didn't know how they would replace the money.

He told her she paid off her stuff after telling him he couldn't spend the money.

He says he was done arguing at that point.

Judge Judy's Assessment of the Relationship

Judge Judy notes they continued to live together until July.

They disagree on whether it was the beginning or end of July.

Judge Judy says they both gave wrong answers.

She calls it "playing house."

She believes the money went into a shared "kitty."

She does not believe Miss Hines handed Mr. Peck $1,850.

She believes the money was for shared expenses.

She states Miss Hines wants the money back now that he left.

She says that will not happen.

Miss Hines Tries to Convince the Judge

Miss Hines asks if she can speak.

Judge Judy says she can try to convince her.

She says she won't believe it.

Miss Hines claims some of Mr. Peck's statements were lies.

She states her bank statements show she withdrew $1,850 for him.

She says she borrowed money from a friend to replace his portion.

She claims she didn't spend her own $1,488.

Judge Judy asks to see the bank statement.

Miss Hines points to an ATM withdrawal.

Mr. Peck interjects that she went into the bank, not the ATM.

Judge Judy notes another withdrawal for $1,430 on the same day.

Miss Hines admits this was her mistake.

She says she withdrew it but didn't spend it.

She claims she returned it two days later.

The Counterclaim for Tools and Harassment

Judge Judy dismisses Miss Hines' claim.

She then addresses Mr. Peck's counterclaim.

He wants tools back from Miss Hines.

She describes them as a half-inch and 3/8 drive ratchet with three sockets.

She says he borrowed them to fix her car in January 2017.

Judge Judy notes they were friendly enough then.

Mr. Peck adds they were friendly until she was released from jail.

He then claims Miss Hines destroyed his fiancée's car.

He says she put fish oil in the vents.

He says he has pictures.

Judge Judy dismisses this.

She says the car is not in Miss Hines' name.

Mr. Peck clarifies the fiancée is his sister.

Judge Judy tells him if his sister wants to sue, she should.

Mr. Peck continues, claiming Miss Hines harassed him.

He says she destroyed relationships and friendships.

He states he can't even go to work.

Judge Judy suggests Dr. Phil.
