The Plaintiff's Account of the Attack
Mr. Hayes appeared in court as the plaintiff.
He claimed Ms. Fraser's pit bull attacked him.
The attack also involved his two dogs.
This incident occurred on February 19th.
Mr. Hayes stated it happened around 4 p.m.
He was walking his two large dogs.
One dog was a Malmute, and the other was a Husky.
They were eight and seven years old, respectively.
Mr. Hayes lived a block and a half away from Ms. Fraser.
He walked past her house about three times a week.
On the day of the incident, his dogs were leashed.
He had just returned from a flight.
The Pit Bull Appears
Mr. Hayes was walking his dogs past Ms. Fraser's house.
He heard a clicking noise on the concrete.
He looked back to see a pit bull running straight at them.
Mr. Hayes noticed the garage was open.
A door adjacent to the garage was also open.
He screamed, "Get your dog!"
No one came out of the house.
The pit bull came directly at Mr. Hayes.
He put his hand up defensively.
The dog bit him once.

Attack on the Malmute
The pit bull then went directly after Mr. Hayes' female Malmute.
Her name was Jade.
Mr. Hayes continued to yell.
His male dog was sitting down at that point.
The male dog did not know what to do.
The pit bull and Jade started to fight.
The pit bull bit Jade's leg very hard.
Mr. Hayes tried to pull the dogs apart.
The pit bull bit his hand again.
He then picked the pit bull up by its neck.

Confrontation with Ms. Fraser
Mr. Hayes walked to Ms. Fraser's residence.
He went to her door.
He knocked on the door.
Ms. Fraser came out.
Mr. Hayes asked if it was her dog.
She confirmed it was her dog.
He told her that her dog had attacked him and his dog.
Both Mr. Hayes and his dog were bleeding profusely.
Ms. Fraser's initial response was, "My dog would never hurt anybody."
Mr. Hayes released the dog to Ms. Fraser.
She took the dog by hand.
Mr. Hayes then re-leashed his dogs.
His female dog had gotten out of her collar during the scuffle.

Ms. Fraser's Shifting Explanations
Ms. Fraser presented several different accounts of the incident.
She initially claimed her dog was tethered to a tree in her front yard.
She stated she was grocery shopping at the time.
She also claimed no one was home.
Later, she said she let the dog out to go to the bathroom.
She said she tied it to a tree.
She also suggested the dog got out of the house.
This happened when her family returned from grocery shopping.
The judge pointed out the inconsistencies in her story.

Judge Judy Questions Credibility
Judge Judy questioned Ms. Fraser's changing statements.
The judge asked if the garage door was open.
Ms. Fraser confirmed it was.
She also confirmed there was an entrance to her house from the garage.
Judge Judy asked if the pit bull got out that way.
Ms. Fraser denied this.
The judge stated Ms. Fraser had a problem with her story.
Judge Judy told her not to try to remember what she wrote in her answer.
The judge said that answer was clearly not true.
Ms. Fraser confirmed the dog was in the house.

The Dog's Escape
Ms. Fraser then stated she let her dog outside.
She said she lets her dog stay inside the house when they leave.
She claimed it obviously got out of the bathroom when they came home.
