A Dog Bite Incident Leads to Court

Imagine a child walking home from school.

Then imagine a dog attack.

This case brings a family to Judge Judy's courtroom seeking justice.

The Plaintiff's Son Recounts the Attack

Mr. Nunez is the plaintiff.

His son, Samuel, is the victim.

Ms. Rodriguez is the defendant, the dog owner.

Mr. Rodriguez is the defendant's husband.

Samuel tells Judge Judy his story.

He was walking home from school.

He saw a lady with a dog and a baby stroller.

The dog was jumping and growling.

The lady was saying, "Don't do it to the dog."

Samuel passed her.

The dog went around behind her.

It bit him on the leg.

Judge Judy Questions the Aftermath

Judge Judy asks Samuel what he did next.

He went home.

He did not say anything to the lady.

The lady did not say anything to him.

Judge Judy asks how they found the lady.

Samuel says his dad found her.

Samuel went to the doctor.

He received shots.

He got four shots that day.

They were on both arms and both legs.

Samuel describes the dog as white and fluffy.

It was medium-sized.

He had never seen the lady or the dog before.

Another Dog Bite Incident Comes to Light

Mr. Nunez takes the stand.

He explains how they found Ms. Rodriguez.

The next day, there was another incident.

Another individual was bitten by the same dog.

The Flugerville Police Department called Mr. Nunez.

They informed him they found the dog.

This was due to the second bite incident.

The second incident happened on December 9th.

Samuel's incident was on December 8th.

Mr. Nunez has documents for both incidents.

Judge Judy wants to see them.

The Defendant's First Interruption

Ms. Rodriguez tries to interject.

She claims the information is hearsay.

She says her mom was walking the dog.

She mentions a pit bull on a leash.

Judge Judy cuts her off.

"Don't interrupt," Judge Judy states.

Ms. Rodriguez responds, "Yes, ma'am."

Judge Judy reminds her not to tell her what hearsay is.

"I actually know what hearsay is," Judge Judy says.

The Defendant's Version of Events

Ms. Rodriguez begins her testimony.

She asks to approach the board.

She describes December 8th, two o'clock in the afternoon.

She was walking down Bishop Skate.

She saw Samuel approaching.

She explains her sister is afraid of dogs.

So she is respectful of others.

She stopped to the left side.

Her dog was on her left.

The stroller was in her right hand.

She says she directed Samuel to go around them.

Judge Judy Questions the Defendant's Actions

Judge Judy stops Ms. Rodriguez.

"Just a second, why would you do that?"

she asks.

Ms. Rodriguez tries to explain.

Judge Judy clarifies her question.

She states she has had dogs for 50 years.

She walks dogs on a leash.

She asks why Ms. Rodriguez would suggest Samuel go around the dog.

Ms. Rodriguez clarifies she directed him by standing there.

She did not tell him verbally.

She just stood to the side.

She thought he knew he could pass.

Judge Judy cuts her off again.

"Don't tell me what he knew," Judge Judy says.

Samuel passed her.

Ms. Rodriguez confirms this.

The Dog's Barking and the Defendant's Reaction

Ms. Rodriguez continues her story.

They kept walking.

Her dog started barking after they had walked off.

She turned around.

Her dog was barking.

She says the kid didn't really—

Judge Judy interrupts her.

"Just a second, just a second, be very careful," Judge Judy warns.
