Case File

Girlfriend's Mom Paid to Reverse Vasectomy (Page 2 of 2)

He felt too proud to ask for the money himself.

He claims Kayla, Ms. Davenport's daughter, asked her mom.

He didn't disagree.

Her mom provided the money.

This was all under the understanding he would marry her daughter.

They would have a happy marriage.

Then he took a job in Phoenix.

He moved there.

A week later, she started seeing someone else.

A month later, they broke up.

The Purpose of the Reversal

Mr. Carter states the whole point of the reversal was to be married and have children.

He feels this was taken from him.

It disrupts the entire point.

Judge Judy tells him that sometimes things don't work out.

It's better before marriage than after.

She reminds him this was not forced upon him.

He agrees she didn't tie him down.

Judge Judy says he voluntarily did it.

He felt his future would be enhanced.

Insurance Questions

Judge Judy asks if her daughter worked.

Ms. Davenport says her daughter worked 15 hours a week.

It was not enough to support herself.

Ms. Davenport was still working when the reversal happened.

Her medical insurance didn't cover it.

Mr. Carter clarifies his job lapse was only two weeks.

He was moving to a new job in Phoenix.

Judge Judy asks why he didn't wait for insurance if he would have had it.

Mr. Carter says his insurance declined to cover a reversal procedure.

Both his old and new insurance.

Judge Judy confirms there wasn't going to be insurance coverage anyway.

Mr. Carter agrees.

Judge Judy asks if this was discussed with Ms. Davenport.

He doesn't recall if he knew at the time about new insurance.

Or if it would cover.

Text Message Evidence

Ms. Davenport presents text messages.

She says he clearly states he owes her.

She has printouts and the original.

She also has a bank statement showing the money pulled out.

Judge Judy reads a text from Mr. Carter.

"I'm sorry things didn't work out.

Please know that I will continue to pay my debt to you for everything you've done for me."

Mr. Carter explains he was on their family cell phone plan.

He owed her money for that.

He paid that.

Judge Judy asks how much.

He believes it was around $120.

Whatever the termination fee was.

Judge Judy reads another text from June 27th.

"Hi Kim.

I have written that I owe you $5,000 for my surgery and $4,000 for my court debt."

She notes the numbers seem too perfectly rounded.

Mr. Carter agrees they seemed too rounded.

He says Ms. Davenport kept talking about $49.71.

He says $5,000 is close to that.

Judge Judy points out he didn't say he didn't owe it.

He just said the numbers seemed too rounded.

The "Abrasive" Excuse

Mr. Carter says he is not an abrasive person.

Ms. Davenport kept saying she needed the money back.

He found it difficult to be a "jerky" to the mother of the person he dated.

He says it became an emotional thing for him.

The Doctor's Bill

Judge Judy sees that Ms. Davenport paid the doctor $4,971.

Ms. Davenport confirms the amount.

She has the bill.

She explains it was an odd bill due to a computer glitch.

They kept trying to bill him for $45,000.

It shows he was there under his name on that date.

She clarifies it was a debit card payment from her checking account.

Judge Judy notes the bill shows total patient payments of $46,000.

She asks for the actual surgery cost.

Ms. Davenport states it was $4,971 minus $60 for gas.

So, $4,901.

Judge Judy confirms the amount.
