A Night Out Ends in a Fight

Imagine a first date gone wrong.

Then imagine it ending in a courtroom.

That is exactly what happened here.

The Parties in Court

Mr. Miller is the plaintiff.

He is suing for damages.

Mr. Madcap is the defendant.

He is accused of assault.

Emily is the defendant's date and a witness.

Cash is an emergency medical technician and a witness.

The Plaintiff Seeks Compensation

Mr. Miller is suing for dental work.

He claims Mr. Madcap punched him.

The Defendant's Story Begins

Judge Judy starts with Mr. Madcap.

He was on a first date with Emily in June 2017.

He says Emily was acting bizarrely.

Judge Judy tells Mr. Madcap she is not believing him.

She says he is giving hindsight through a story.

He had told this story through his lawyer for two years.

The Confrontation

Mr. Madcap says he approached Mr. Miller.

He told Mr. Miller to leave Emily alone.

He admits he cannot remember the exact words.

Judge Judy asks him to try to remember.

She reminds him he remembered hand placements.

She asks what he said after a couple of drinks.

Mr. Madcap says he first asked, "What's going on?"

Emily did not reply.

Mr. Miller turned towards him.

Mr. Miller told him to leave them alone.

Mr. Madcap says he stood there and said, "No."

He claims Mr. Miller put his hands on him.

The Punch

Judge Judy asks how Mr. Miller put his hands on him.

Mr. Madcap says Mr. Miller's hand was on Emily.

When Mr. Miller turned, it was a sweeping motion.

Mr. Madcap says he reacted to defend himself and Emily.

Judge Judy asks what he did.

Mr. Madcap says he struck Mr. Miller.

He struck him in the face.

The Aftermath and Legal History

Judge Judy notes that is why they are in court.

She asks about dental records.

Mr. Madcap hired a lawyer.

He paid the lawyer $1,750.

The case was closed in October 2018.

He has papers to state that.

Judge Judy asks if he had been arrested before.

He says no.

She asks if it was an ACD or a German to contemplation of dismissal.

This would require him to stay clean.
