THIS EXCUSE DID NOT GO WELL IN COURT!
A Tenant's Claims Against Her Landlords
Imagine walking into Judge Judy's courtroom.
The plaintiff is seeking the return of a security deposit.
She also wants furniture she claims the defendants have.
The defendants, her former landlords, have a different story.
They say she moved in with no furniture.
They claim she only had bags of clothes and garbage bags.
They also state she paid no security or rent.

Four Weeks of Trouble
Judge Judy asks the plaintiff how long she lived with the defendants.
The plaintiff replies, "Roughly four weeks."
Before moving in, the plaintiff lived with her husband and three children.
They were at her mother and stepfather's house.
That house was put on the market in April 2014.
The plaintiff had lived there for two years.
She explains the house was being sold.
She found the defendants' place for half the price.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Moving Day and Missing Leases
The plaintiff moved in on May 8th.
She claims she moved in all her belongings.
These included a four-year-old's twin bed, a queen-size bed, and a full-size bed.
Also, a pack and play, a crib, a kitchen table, and dishes.
Her husband and brother moved the property.
Judge Judy asks to see the lease.
The plaintiff presents a copy.
The defendant denies giving her a lease.
They say they talked on Facebook about a room for rent.
The defendant states they had a verbal lease.
The plaintiff was supposed to get on the actual lease by the first.
The defendant also claims the plaintiff is lying about the beds and kitchen tables.
Judge Judy notes the document is unsigned.
The defendant denies preparing it.
The plaintiff claims the defendant gave it to her.
Judge Judy dismisses the unsigned document.

The Facebook Conversation and Cash Payments
Judge Judy points to a Facebook conversation.
The defendant confirms it's her Facebook name.
Judge Judy then asks for proof of the security deposit and rent.
She wants to see where the plaintiff withdrew the money.
The plaintiff has a copy of a cash check for $600.
This is dated May 8th.
She says it was for pro-rated rent for May.
The plaintiff admits she has no documentation for the rest of the rent.
She says it was paid in cash.
Judge Judy asks where the cash came from.
The plaintiff stayed for four weeks.
She wants the security deposit back.
Judge Judy points out she has no proof of the security deposit.
The plaintiff also wants $100 back for utilities.
She claims the defendant denied her utilities.

The Furniture Dispute
Judge Judy turns to the furniture.
She notes communications show the defendants wanted some of the plaintiff's furniture.
The defendant claims they only took a dresser.
Judge Judy reminds the defendant that a bed and a dresser were mentioned.
There was also a discussion about a kitchen table.
The defendant claims the plaintiff's sister took out her kitchen table.
The plaintiff confirms her kitchen table was there.
Judge Judy is not interested in pictures.

Accusations of Drug Dealing
Judge Judy summarizes the plaintiff's story.
Things didn't work out.
There was a "kerfuffle" about four weeks into the tenancy.
The plaintiff complained the defendants were selling drugs from their garage.
The plaintiff claims she has proof.
She says she called the police.
She explains she couldn't move because she had no money.
The plaintiff has a police report.
Judge Judy states the police responded.
The police did not believe the plaintiff.
