A Sunday Morning Disturbance Escalates

Imagine a quiet Sunday morning.

Then, loud music blasts through your bedroom wall.

The Plaintiff Seeks Justice for an Attack

Jaja Azik-e-way is the plaintiff.

He is suing his neighbor, Lydia Wilson.

He claims she attacked him with a knife.

He also seeks compensation for property damage.

The Music That Started It All

Mr. Azik-e-way describes the beginning of the incident.

He says loud music came from Ms. Wilson's apartment.

He banged on the shared wall to make it stop.

Within a minute, Ms. Wilson was at his door.

She was pounding on it.

When he opened the door, she started rambling.

She spoke about people complaining about her.

She mentioned no one liking her.

She also claimed he scared her daughter.

Mr. Azik-e-way tried to talk to her.

Ms. Wilson then threatened to turn the music back up.

He told her he would call the manager.

As he went to the phone, he looked out his door.

He saw Ms. Wilson with a knife.

Judge Judy Confronts the Defendant About the Knife

Judge Judy directly asks Ms. Wilson about the knife.

"Did you come back with a knife?"

Judge Judy asks.

"That's a yes or a no?"

she presses.

Ms. Wilson admits, "Yes, I did."

The Struggle for the Knife

Mr. Azik-e-way's security door was still open.

He decided to try and shut it.

Two neighbors saw what was happening.

They came to help subdue Ms. Wilson.

He states that Ms. Wilson became more violent.

She was kicking and slashing at him with the knife.

Mr. Azik-e-way presented pictures of his wounds.

He says they were from the knife.

He points to a wound near his left eye.

He also shows one on his chest.

He mentions scars from her nails.

He says she dug her nails into his chest.

This happened while they tried to get the knife.

The Defendant's Counter-Narrative

Ms. Wilson denies stabbing him.

She says, "They were scratches when he jumped on me."

She claims she wanted the knife.

She says she went to him to ask him to stop the music.

She states he started "going on."

Judge Judy questions her fear.

"You say you were afraid of him?"

Judge Judy asks.

"You went to his door...

Pounding on the door."

"You went to his door."

"And you say that you were afraid of him because of the way he was coming at you."

Ms. Wilson clarifies her fear.

She says she was not scared when she first went to his door.

She became afraid "after the fact."

She claims he was "going off" and verbally abusing her.

Judge Judy Challenges the Fear Claim

Judge Judy challenges Ms. Wilson's actions.

"If you were afraid of him," she asks.

"Didn't you just go into your apartment, close your door, and call the police, call the management, if you were really afraid of him?"

Ms. Wilson claims she did not approach his door with the knife.

She says she came outside because she thought he would approach her.

She states she came outside by her own door.

Mr. Azik-e-way describes the knife as a butcher knife.

He says if he was cut, he would have been bleeding.

The Neighbors Intervene

Judge Judy asks Ms. Wilson about being subdued.

"You're subdued by two neighbors, and they take the knife away from you?"

Ms. Wilson confirms the neighbors took the knife.

She says it was because she and Mr. Azik-e-way were arguing.
