FULL VIDEO AT THE END OF THE POST

The Collision in Del Webb Spurs Creek

Ms. Sorenson brought a claim against Mr. Devos.

She alleged that Mr. Devos hit her car with his golf cart.

This collision caused substantial damage to her vehicle.

The incident occurred on December 6th, 2018.

It happened around 1:30 PM.

The location was the Del Webb Spurs Creek community.

This community is in Summerfield, Florida.

Del Webb is a gated, 55-plus community.

It is known for its golf course and golf cart usage.

Plaintiff's Account of the Accident

Ms. Sorenson explained her position.

She was driving her car straight down a thoroughfare.

There was no stop sign for her at that location.

Mr. Devos was operating his golf cart.

He was coming out from the main building area.

He had come to a four-way stop sign.

After stopping, he made a right-hand turn.

Ms. Sorenson was driving past two parking lots.

These parking lots served a restaurant and a bar.

Mr. Devos came up to a stop sign in that area.

He was sitting at the stop sign.

Ms. Sorenson was coming straight down the road.

As she got past a certain point, Mr. Devos pulled out.

She tried to swerve to avoid him.

However, his golf cart slammed into the side of her car.

Defendant's Initial Claim

Judge Judy asked Mr. Devos about the accident.

She asked if Ms. Sorenson hit him.

Mr. Devos responded, "Yes."

He claimed Ms. Sorenson hit him.

Judge Judy's Initial Assessment

Judge Judy immediately questioned Mr. Devos's claim.

She noted that Mr. Devos had a stop sign.

Ms. Sorenson did not have a stop sign.

The damage to Ms. Sorenson's car was on the side.

Judge Judy stated she did not need to be a genius to understand this.

She mentioned that common sense was her strong suit.

This suggested that the side damage indicated Mr. Devos hit Ms. Sorenson.

Mr. Devos's Activity Before the Accident

Judge Judy asked Mr. Devos what he was doing.

She asked if he was playing golf that day.

Mr. Devos said he was not playing golf.

He stated he was just driving his golf cart.

He was talking to some friends.

This activity was taking place within the community.

The Stop Sign Dispute

Mr. Devos's wife interjected during the discussion.

She claimed there was another stop sign.

Judge Judy asked her to show where this other stop sign was.

The wife insisted there was another stop sign.

She claimed to have pictures of it.

Judge Judy asked her to show the pictures.

The wife pointed to a four-way stop sign.

Judge Judy acknowledged the existence of that stop sign.

However, she clarified the crucial point.

She stated that Mr. Devos had a stop sign at the accident location.

She then asked if Ms. Sorenson also had a stop sign there.

The wife insisted, "So did she?"

Judge Judy firmly stated, "No."

The wife continued to argue.

Judge Judy reiterated that Ms. Sorenson did not have a stop sign where the accident took place.

She explained that even if Ms. Sorenson had blown red lights before, it was irrelevant.

At the specific point of the accident, Mr. Devos had a stop sign.

He hit Ms. Sorenson.

Therefore, it was his fault.

Damage to the Vehicles

Judge Judy requested to see the damage to the car.

Ms. Sorenson presented a picture of her car's damage.

The damage was clearly visible on the side of her car.

Judge Judy then asked Mr. Devos if he had a picture of his golf cart's damage.

Mr. Devos stated he did not have it on his phone.
