THIS EXCUSE DID NOT GO WELL IN COURT!
A Trailer Sale Turns into a Stolen Property Nightmare
Imagine buying something you think is a great deal.
Then you find out it's stolen.
That's what happened to the Aquinos.

The Plaintiffs Seek Justice for a Deceptive Sale
Mr. and Mrs. Aquino are the plaintiffs.
They are suing Miss Avilla, the defendant.
They bought a trailer from her.
They paid $450 for it.
They also spent money on new tires.
They want their money back.

The Defendant's Story About the Trailer
Miss Avilla claims she told the Aquinos the trailer belonged to her husband.
She says she offered to look for the title.
She also claims she offered them a refund.

The Trailer's Mysterious Past
The trailer had been on Miss Avilla's property for three years.
Before that, it was at her home in Camarillo.
Her husband left it there in April 2019 when he moved out.
Miss Avilla and her husband are still married.
She believes the title is in her husband's name.

Judge Judy Questions the Ownership Claim
Judge Judy asks Miss Avilla about the title.
Miss Avilla says she didn't know where it was.
She said she would look for it.
Judge Judy points out that by selling it, Miss Avilla represented she had the right to sell it.

The DMV Red-Flags the Trailer
The Aquinos tried to register the trailer.
The DMV red-tagged it.
It was reported stolen.
Mr. Aquino describes the terrifying experience.
Two highway patrol officers approached them.
They thought they were going to be arrested.
They were told they were in possession of stolen merchandise.
They explained what happened.
The officers believed them.
They were instructed to turn the trailer in.

The LAPD Takes Its Time
The Aquinos put the trailer in their backyard.
Then they moved it to the street.
They called the DMV and LAPD.
It took about two months for the LAPD to pick it up.
They received no paperwork for the seizure.

Judge Judy's Disbelief at the Defendant's Story
Judge Judy expresses skepticism about Miss Avilla's claim.
Miss Avilla said she told the Aquinos the trailer belonged to her husband.
Judge Judy finds this unbelievable.
She states no one would buy something from a non-owner.
She says the Aquinos would be "crazy" to buy it if they knew that.

The Defendant's Boyfriend Is Removed
Miss Avilla's boyfriend interrupts the proceedings.
Judge Judy dismisses him from the courtroom.

The Refund Offer That Wasn't
Miss Avilla claims she offered a refund.
Mr. Aquino had already improved the trailer.
Judge Judy does not believe Miss Avilla's timeline.
She says the property had already been improved.
Judge Judy's Final Thoughts on Deception
Judge Judy tells Miss Avilla she started this process with deception.
She reiterates that the Aquinos are not crazy.
She advises that if something looks too good to be true, it usually is.
The deal for the trailer was too good.
