Case File

Joyride in Stolen Truck Ends with a Crash! (Page 2 of 2)

She says Ms. McCoy wanted a letter.

This letter would state Ms. McCoy satisfied her part.

Ms. McClure believed she would still have to pay the rest.

She then states the court hasn't sent her the money Ms. McCoy paid.

Ms. McCoy explains she called the court.

She asked them to release the money to Ms. McClure.

She says they agreed to release it immediately.

Ms. McClure claims she received $350.

She says this was for her own $50 monthly payments.

She was paying to avoid a probation violation for her son.

Ms. McCoy questions if this $350 was for another case.

Ms. McClure denies it.

Judge Judy then asks Taejeon directly.

She asks if he has been arrested since the truck incident.

Taejeon admits he has.

He says it was for vandalism.

He was placed on probation violation and house arrest.

Judge Judy Confirms Payment

Judge Judy states that each boy, and therefore each parent, was responsible for 50 percent.

She says that's what the court ordered.

She says Ms. McClure agreed to it.

Ms. McClure argues that Ms. McCoy has not paid the full restitution.

Judge Judy asks Ms. McCoy for proof of payment.

Ms. McCoy presents records from the court.

She has bank statements and court documents.

Judge Judy points out a new wrinkle.

Taejeon's subsequent arrest means his record won't be expunged.

This is regardless of the restitution payment.

It's because he got arrested again.

Ms. McClure insists it's a separate case.

Judge Judy dismisses this.

She says Ms. McClure is "deluding herself."

Judge Judy examines Ms. McCoy's evidence.

She confirms Ms. McCoy paid.

She sees the debit and who it was made to.

The Credit Card Payment and Ms. McClure's Responsibility

Ms. McClure raises another issue.

She claims the court told her Ms. McCoy paid with a credit card.

She says credit card payments have a 90-day hold.

This is because the payment can be challenged.

Judge Judy asks when the car was stolen.

It was March 2016.

Judge Judy then asks Ms. McCoy about her payment.

She asks if Ms. McCoy just paid the 50 percent in May of this year.

Ms. McCoy clarifies.

She made monthly payments starting April 2016 for her son's half.

She paid Ms. McClure's son's half in a lump sum recently.

This was after Ms. McClure backed out.

Judge Judy confirms Ms. McCoy paid.

She states Ms. McCoy paid by credit card on May 19, 2017.

This was Ms. McClure's son's half.

Judge Judy reminds Ms. McClure of her agreement.

She told the judge she would pay her son's half.

The fact that Taejeon got arrested again is not Ms. McCoy's fault.

It is Ms. McClure's fault.

Ms. McClure had a responsibility to pay.

She was there in court and agreed to it.
