Relationship History

Miss Allen and Mr. Jodam were in a relationship for a little over seven years.

They never lived together during this time.

Mr. Jodam was renting a room.

Their relationship ended in June 2016.

Alleged Loans Begin

Miss Allen alleged a series of loans made to Mr. Jodam.

Mr. Jodam disputed these claims.

He stated that most of the money was a gift.

He acknowledged one loan for a car.

However, he claimed this car loan was repaid.

He stated the repayment was an all-expense-paid trip to Trinidad for Miss Allen.

This trip was allegedly at the expense of Mr. Jodam or his mother.

First Loan Claims

Miss Allen alleged the first loan occurred in August 2015.

This loan was for tools.

The amount was $256.23.

She stated these tools were for Mr. Jodam to fix up cars.

Subsequent Tool Loans

On August 26, 2015, Miss Allen alleged another loan.

This was for $100.

It was transferred directly to Mr. Jodam's account.

This money was also for him to purchase other tools.

Two days later, on August 28, Miss Allen alleged a third loan.

This was another $100.

It was also for purchasing other tools.

The Car Loan

The next alleged loan was on September 21, 2015.

This loan was for $1,700.

It was for the purchase of a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse car.

Miss Allen stated she lent him this $1,700.

Trinidad Trip Loan

On January 2, 2016, Miss Allen alleged another loan.

This loan was for $500.

It was related to the trip to Trinidad.

She mentioned it was for some liquor or something.

Lack of Repayment

Judge Judy asked if Mr. Jodam paid anything back for the initial tool loans.

Miss Allen confirmed he did not pay back the $256.23.

She also confirmed he did not pay back the first $100 for tools.

He did not pay back the second $100 either.

Mr. Jodam's Defense

Mr. Jodam stated that the only money that was a loan was for the car.

He claimed Miss Allen was paid back for the car money.

He said this was through the trip to Trinidad.

He described it as a "quid pro quo."

Car Purchase Details

Mr. Jodam stated the car was a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

He said he bought it from a friend of his cousin.

He did not know the seller's name.

He claimed the car cost $750.

He stated Miss Allen contributed $600.

She noted that Mr. Jodam claimed the car cost $750.

Mr. Jodam stated the car was not in good condition.

He said it was in fair condition.

The research showed a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse in fair condition was valued at $1,150.

In good condition, it was $2,200.

Judge Judy commented that there was nothing listed for $750.

She expressed skepticism about the $750 purchase price.

Defendant's Brother Testifies

Mr. Jodam's brother was called to testify.

He was present at the car transaction.

He confirmed he drove the vehicle home from the purchase point.

He did not remember the seller's name.

He stated he saw Miss Allen hand money to Mr. Jodam.

Mr. Jodam then gave the money to the original owner of the car.

He did not see the exact amount of money exchanged.
