YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT SHE TOLD JUDGE JUDY!

A Family Feud Over a Deceased Child

Imagine a family gathering that turns into a courtroom drama.

That is exactly what happened here.

The Plaintiff Seeks Justice for Assault and False Arrest

Ms. Fox is the plaintiff.

She is suing for assault and false arrest.

She claims her niece, Zuli, assaulted her.

She also claims Zuli had her falsely arrested.

Ms. Fox wants $5,000.

The Complex Family Dynamic

Judge Judy asks Ms. Fox to explain her relationship to Zuli.

Biologically, Ms. Fox states Zuli is her niece.

Zuli is the daughter of Ms. Fox's oldest sister.

Legally, Ms. Fox believes Zuli is not her sister.

She says their adoptive mother raised Zuli as a daughter.

However, Ms. Fox claims Zuli was not formally adopted.

Ms. Fox herself was formally adopted.

Her adoption records are sealed.

Judge Judy decides to refer to Zuli as Ms. Fox's niece for simplicity.

A Short-Lived Stay

Ms. Fox had not been living in the home for long.

She had only been there for four days.

Zuli, on the other hand, had lived with their mother "forever."

Ms. Fox moved in on March 31st.

She had her mother's permission.

The Altercation

The altercation happened on April 4th.

This was just four days after Ms. Fox moved in.

Ms. Fox describes the incident.

It was around 1 or 2 AM.

She was sitting on the floor talking to a dog.

Her mother and Zuli were at the kitchen table.

They were discussing how to move on from depression.

Ms. Fox brought up a sensitive topic.

She mentioned a deceased child Zuli had lost.

Ms. Fox stated Zuli kept the "caucus" for a few days.

She used this as an example to "let it go."

Zuli reacted angrily.

She told Ms. Fox not to talk about her dead child.

Ms. Fox responded that it would have been her niece or nephew.

Zuli then stood up.

Ms. Fox claims Zuli "lashed at her neck with her right arm and choked her."

Ms. Fox says she did not fight back.

She asked her mother to intervene.

Her mother did not.

Ms. Fox then overpowered Zuli.

Drinking Was Involved

Ms. Fox admits "all of us" had been drinking.

Zuli denies drinking.

She states she is a dialysis patient.

Ms. Fox then clarifies.

She says her mother does not drink.

But her aunt, presumably Zuli, drinks "quite often."

The Aftermath and a Restraining Order

After the altercation, Ms. Fox went to bed.

The next morning, April 4th, at 8 AM, she went to the courthouse.

She wanted to file a restraining order.

Ms. Fox claims she wanted someone to explain to Zuli that putting hands on someone is unacceptable.

Judge Judy points out the restraining order asked for Zuli to be removed from the house.

It also stated Zuli was a danger to their mother.

The judge denied Ms. Fox's request for a protective order.

Ms. Fox claims she had never needed a restraining order before.

She says she did not know what it meant.

She just wanted someone to explain to Zuli that she could not touch her.

Judge Judy emphasizes that Ms. Fox specifically checked boxes.

These boxes asked for Zuli to be removed from the residence.

They claimed Zuli was a danger to Ms. Fox and her mother.

Return to the House and Locked Doors

On April 4th, Ms. Fox returned to the house with the police.

She claims she was not asked to leave.

She says it was where she lived.

The police were there to serve Zuli with a trial date.
