YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HE TOLD JUDGE JUDY!

An Ambulance Bill Sparks a Custody Debate

Imagine being on the hook for an ambulance bill years after the incident.

That's the situation Miss Teal finds herself in.

She is suing Mr. Wright.

They share five children.

Their son, Mark, is also present.

The Plaintiff's Salary Is Being Garnished

Miss Teal explains that her salary is being garnished.

It's for an ambulance bill.

The bill is for their son, Mark.

Mark was in a car accident.

He was living with Mr. Wright at the time.

Miss Teal believes Mr. Wright should pay.

Mark's Stay with His Father

Mark had always lived with Miss Teal.

He was 16 when he decided to live with his father.

This was in June of 2013.

He stayed with Mr. Wright until December of 2013.

The car accident happened during this time.

It was on October 15th, 2013.

Mr. Wright's Defense: A History of Custody Issues

Mr. Wright states this wasn't the first time Miss Teal dropped their son off.

He claims he would get Mark's grades right.

He would get him back in school.

Then Miss Teal would come and take him back.

Mr. Wright says he couldn't fight it.

He didn't have custody.

He claims Miss Teal denied his requests for custody.

He believes she wanted to keep receiving child support.

Judge Judy on Custody and Child Support

Judge Judy reminds Mr. Wright that courts are for custody issues.

She says he should have gone to court.

He could have changed the custody order.

She explains that if a child moves, child support should be adjusted.

Miss Teal was receiving $107 a week.

This was for all five children.

It included the period Mark lived with Mr. Wright.

Judge Judy points out that a portion of that support was for Mark.

That portion should have been reduced.

The Ambulance Bill and Child Support Calculation

The ambulance bill is $878.

Judge Judy calculates the child support for Mark.

She divides $107 by five children.

That's $21 per child per week.

For six months, that's $513.

She states this is what Mr. Wright should have received.

The difference between the ambulance bill and this amount is $365.

The Mysterious Settlement Check

Judge Judy then asks about a settlement check.

It was a result of the accident.

Mr. Wright received it.

He says it was $1,500.

He claims he "provided for him" with the money.

Judge Judy questions this.

She says settlement money for a minor should be put away.

It should be for the child's future.

Mark's Testimony About the Money

Judge Judy asks Mark directly about the money.

She asks if he used his money.

Mark says yes.

He bought clothes and shoes.

He also went to movies and the mall.

He confirms he didn't know about the settlement check.

He found out from his mother.

Conflicting Evidence and the "Wrong Accident"

Miss Teal presents a letter.

It's from an insurance company.

It mentions a $3,200 settlement.

This was for an accident in November 2014.

Judge Judy quickly identifies this as the "wrong accident."

The current case is about an accident in October 2013.

Miss Teal also presents hospital paperwork.

This paperwork confirms the October 2013 accident date.

Judge Judy Dismisses the Case

The litigants continue to talk over each other.

Judge Judy warns them multiple times.

She eventually dismisses the case.

She states they both deserve each other.

She reiterates that Miss Teal should have stopped child support for Mark.

This was while he lived with his father.

She also says Mr. Wright should have paid the ambulance bill.

He should have used the insurance money.

She dismisses them for not following her instructions.
