THIS NEIGHBORHOOD DISPUTE HAS BEEN BREWING FOR YEARS!

A Long-Standing Feud Comes to Court

Imagine a neighborhood where peace is a distant memory.

That is the scene set for Judge Judy.

Mr. Hardacre is the plaintiff.

He is suing his neighbor, the defendant.

The defendant's daughter, Angela, also plays a key role.

Mr. Hardacre's wife, Debbie Hardaker, is also involved.

The Initial Spark: Painting and Graffiti

The trouble started long ago.

Around 2006, the defendant was hired to paint inside Mr. Hardacre's house.

Mr. Hardacre claims the defendant painted graffiti.

He says the defendant wrote "house for sale, needs repair" by the fireplace.

Mr. Hardacre told him to leave.

They haven't spoken since that incident.

The Fence Incident and a Smiley Face

Years later, a new conflict arose.

The defendant took down his wire fence.

Mr. Hardacre claims this fence supported his wooden fence.

He says his wooden fence was damaged.

Then, the defendant painted a smiley face on his new fence.

The smiley face faced Mr. Hardacre's property.

The defendant admitted to stepping onto Mr. Hardacre's property to paint it.

This happened on August 31, 2018.

Angela's Confrontation and the 911 Call

On the same day, Angela went to Mr. Hardacre's house.

She confronted him about the smiley face.

Angela recorded this interaction.

Judge Judy later viewed this video.

Mr. Hardacre perceived Angela's tone as threatening.

He called 911.

He reported Angela as "mentally unstable."

He felt threatened by her visit.

He stated she said "it'll be a good night, all right" in a threatening manner.

Judge Judy Questions Angela's Intent

Judge Judy watched Angela's video.

She challenged Angela's stated reason for the visit.

Angela claimed she just wanted to know "why" Mr. Hardacre was upset.

Judge Judy found her demeanor confrontational.

She said Angela went "loaded for bear."

Judge Judy emphasized the proper procedure.

If someone feels threatened by trespassing, they should call the police.

They should not confront the person themselves.

Police Involvement in the Fence Dispute

After Mr. Hardacre's 911 call, police responded.

Six officers came to the defendant's garage.

This was regarding the fence incident.

The defendant presented a police report about this visit.

The Loud Music Incident

Mr. Hardacre claims the defendant and Angela played loud music.

The music was directed towards his house.

This led to police involvement.

Tickets for disorderly conduct were issued.

This occurred in the first part of December 2018.

Disorderly Conduct Arrest and Plea Bargain

The defendant and Angela were arrested.

The charge was disorderly conduct due to the loud music.

They entered a plea bargain.

They each paid $500.

This happened on December 18, 2018.

The defendant claimed he was just playing music normally.

He said he was fixing the roof.

Judge Judy pointed out the plea bargain.

She said it indicated an offense was committed.

Police observed the offense.

A Disturbing Verbal Altercation

After December 2018, another incident occurred.

Debbie Hardaker, Mr. Hardacre's wife, made a claim.

She said Angela screamed "You should just kill yourself."

This happened while Debbie was in her driveway.

Angela denied saying it to Debbie.

She suggested she might have been on the phone.

She also suggested she might have been talking to her father.

Judge Judy found the comment disgusting.

The Defendant Admits Trespassing

The defendant admitted to trespassing.

He stepped on Mr. Hardacre's property.

This was to paint the smiley face.

This admission supported Mr. Hardacre's claim.

Judge Judy's Final Thoughts

Judge Judy expressed disapproval of Angela's behavior.

She also disapproved of the defendant's handling of the situation.

She noted Angela's age and unemployment.

She called Angela a "problem."

She said Angela was the defendant's problem to deal with.
