Imagine a relationship ending with accusations of stolen money and vandalized property.

That is the scene set before Judge Judy.

Ms. Jackson is the plaintiff.

She is suing her former partner, Mr. Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is the defendant.

He has a cross-complaint against Ms. Jackson.

They share two children.

They lived together for a substantial period.

The Plaintiff's Claims

Ms. Jackson claims Mr. Johnson owes her money.

She says these were loans taken while they were together.

She also claims he owes her for damage to her car.

The lease was in Ms. Jackson's name.

She became a month-to-month tenant.

Mr. Johnson worked for an ACCOC GED program as a tutor.

Mr. Johnson states they split expenses half and half.

He would give Ms. Jackson cash.

She would then pay the bills.

The $800 Bank Transfer

Judge Judy focuses on an $800 transfer.

Ms. Jackson transferred this money from Mr. Johnson's bank to her bank.

This happened on June 2, 2017.

This was after they ceased living together.

Ms. Jackson claims Mr. Johnson gave her permission for this transfer.

She says he told her she could withdraw $800.

Mr. Johnson denies this.

He states she took it without his knowledge.

He says she took it early in the morning after he was paid.

He got paid on June 1st.

She took the money out on June 2nd around 4 AM.

The Faded Receipt for $320

Ms. Jackson presents a receipt.

She claims it shows partial repayment for the $800 transfer.

The receipt is faded.

It says "Talisa paid Stephen 320, 6-3-17."

Ms. Jackson states this was the remainder of the $800.

Mr. Johnson denies signing it.

He also denies receiving the money.

He claims the signature is not his.

He suggests it was obtained fraudulently.

Judge Judy compares the signature to his answer.

Mr. Johnson states Ms. Jackson does things like this.

He says he reported the fraud to the bank.

He told them he knew her.

The bank said it was under investigation.

He never received any money.

He states he got laid off.

He no longer has that bank card.

Judge Judy Dismisses "Family Business" Loans

Judge Judy clarifies her stance on loans between cohabiting partners.

She states that loans taken out as a family are not for the court.

She calls these "family business."

She explains that finances are mixed in such relationships.

She only cares about transactions and damage after the breakup.

The Windshield Damage Claim

Mr. Johnson claims Ms. Jackson broke his windshield.

He says this happened on August 25.

This was after their breakup.

He presents pictures of the broken windshield.
