Judge Judy's Ruling on Child Support
Judge Judy explains a fundamental principle.
She addresses the defendant.
In most jurisdictions, you do not get a reduction in child support for choosing to have other children.
You take on responsibility for a second family.
You understand you have a first family or child.
If you can afford two children, you have two children.
If you can afford ten, you have ten.
But if you decide to have ten, child number one's support is not reduced.
That is the law in most jurisdictions.
She notes the defendant went to a mediator, not court.
She didn't have a lawyer.
The Dismissal
She dismisses it in good conscience.
She believes the court order did not take effect until the end of October.
The judge signed it on October 24th.
Irrespective of their mutual agreement, it did not become a changed order until then.
The lawsuit is dismissed.
